Annual Kaṭhina Cīvara Pūjā Ceremony – 2026

Arrangements have been made to hold the annual Kaṭhina Mahā Piṅkama of the Pelena Gangaramaya Maha Viharaya, your own religious temple that fulfills your religious activities, on November 5th, 6th, and 7th, 2026.

Programmes Schedule:

• October 29, 2026 at 9:30 AM: Enshrining the Kaṭhina Cīvara at the Sanasa Bank, Weligama.
• October 30, 2026 at 2:30 PM: Enshrining the Kaṭhina Cīvara at the residence of Mr. M. P. Mohan Ravindra and Mrs. L. L. Chandralatha in Mudillagahawaththa.
• November 1, 2026 at 2:30 PM: Enshrining the Kaṭhina Cīvara at the residence of Mr. P. P. Ashok Kumara and Mrs. M. N. Thilaka Sanjeewani in Wadanawatta.
• November 3, 2026 at 2:30 PM: Enshrining the Kaṭhina Cīvara at the residence of Mr. S. P. P. Aruna Shantha and Mrs. D. K. Suseema Damayanthi on Matara Road. (After the procession carrying the Kaṭhina Cīvara tours the village starting from that residence at 2:00 PM on the 5th, enshrining the Kaṭhina Cīvara on the night of that day at the residence of Mr. W. B. Manjula and Mrs. P. H. Sriyani Priyadharshani on New Muhudu Mawatha).
• November 6, 2026 at 7:00 PM: Holding the Atavisi Gilanpasa Buddha Pūjā. (Sponsorship: Past Pupils’ Association of Pelena Sri Vajiragnana Maha Vidyalaya).
• November 6, 2026 at 9:00 PM: All-night Pirith Dhamma Sermon. (Sponsorship: Businessman Mr. W. B. Manjula, Mrs. P. H. Sriyani Priyadharshani, and children residing on New Galle Road. Serving tea and refreshments to lay devotees by Mrs. P. H. Kamalawathi and children residing in Gurugewatta, Pelena, after the night grand Pirith sermon).
• November 7, 2026 at 7:30 AM: Bringing the Kaṭhina Cīvara in procession from the residence of Mr. W. B. Manjula and Mrs. P. H. Sriyani Priyadharshani to the temple (Arrival of the accepted Pirikara at 10:00 AM).
• November 7, 2026 at 11:00 AM: Offering the Kaṭhina Cīvara along with all Pirikara to the Sangha, and offering alms (day meal) for 50 monks by the family including Mr. S. P. P. Aruna Shantha and Mrs. D. K. Suseema Damayanthi.
• November 7, 2026 at 5:00 PM: Holding the Gilanpasa Buddha Pūjā. (Sponsorship: Devotee family including Mrs. Athula Gunawardena of Gandharawatta).
• November 7, 2026 at 6:00 PM: Delivering the Kaṭhinānisaṁsa Dhamma Sermon. (Sponsorship: Devotee families of all contributing households of the Gangaramaya Temple. Tea/Refreshments after the Kaṭhinānisaṁsa Dhamma Sermon sponsored by Businessman Mr. P. P. G. Hasitha Eranga, his wife, and all family members).
